A good beat makes or breaks a song. Looking for trap, jazz, lofi, boom bap, griselda, surfgang? I gotchu. Have a custom beat, chord progression, or sample in mind? I can turn that into a song for you! Have a track in mind that you can’t get the rights to? I can recreate it, no samples necessary. The artists that I work with say the lyrics come easy after hearing my beats. You can find a lot of cheap, generic beats on beatstars made in 5 minutes with no love. My beats are not that. I’m looking to enchant the listener with sounds they haven’t heard put together before. I’m aiming to transport the listener to a new place entirely and to inspire and bring out the most magic I can. A balanced mix is a boring mix. I start off my mixes by achieving this balance and then work to highlight and expose the most important parts of the song emotionally, rhythmically, magically, etc. I honor the rough draft and try to elevate the best parts. I know how much time and care artists put into their songs before sending them out to be mixed and I aim to preserve this character while elevating it into a professional, releasable state. Over the years, I have learned and invested in software that allows me to manipulate sounds however I choose fit. I can remove background noise, plosives, and clipping to save otherwise unusable recordings or keep those “mistakes” and highlight them to create unique emotional texture. The goal is to take the demo and turn it into everything you hoped for and more! That being said the mixing world is all about compromises. Turn up this and there’s less of that, only so much real estate. So sometimes decisions need to be made and I make those decisions with the heart of the song as well as the desires of the client and the audience in mind. For all mixes, I suggest sending any reference track and I am more then happy to discuss vision and intent for a song before starting the mix!

During my time at Berklee College of Music, I was fortunate to study with some of the best teachers on earth. My teacher and mentor George Garzone is one of the greatest sax players and teachers of all time. He reshaped my approach to embouchure, articulation, improvisation, time, and melody and gave me confidence that my allegiance to melody was a strength amongst my more technically driven peers. If you are interested in learning how to get the most out of your saxophone or new ways to think about approaching improvisation, I promise I can provide valuable information in these areas!
Also while I specialize in Ableton Live as my choice DAW, I have experience with most softwares and they are all equally capable of producing heat. If you are a producer and have already watched countless tutorials on youtube, consider studying with someone one on one. I can listen to your works in progress and give feedback in terms of arrangement, mixing, and overall feel. The ultimate goal is to empower you with the tools you already have at your disposal.
The greatest lesson I can give is to teach you how to teach yourself. In music, as in life, the goal is to never stop learning and growing. Learning how to learn can be very empowering for life outside of music. I talk to people after shows and they tell me they wish they could make music. This is a limiting belief. We are all artists with unique gifts to share the world if we can get out of our own way! Creativity passes through the collective consciousness all the time and only a few catch it or even notice. As Rick Rubin says, we must continue to sharpen our antennas to receive what is all around us. Music is magic.
